Join Bloom for a webinar on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 12 pm presented by veteran horticulturalist Ron Alexander on practical, locally grounded strategies to manage stormwater and build greener, more resilient communities.

Green infrastructure plays a critical role in capturing and filtering runoff, reducing flooding, improving water quality, restoring habitat, and creating healthier, more livable neighborhoods. As the DMV faces the combined pressures of climate change, rapid population growth, and shrinking green space, smart stormwater solutions are more important than ever.

This presentation, available for ASLA CEU, will spotlight proven green infrastructure approaches—from bioretention and infiltration systems to the engineered soils that make them work—and will feature local examples using Bloom, DC Water’s Class A biosolids soil amendment. Through mini case studies, attendees will see how Bloom-enriched soils are supporting projects across the region, from school gardens and cemeteries to large-scale installations.

Participants will learn:

  • The core benefits of green infrastructure systems
  • How bioretention features and infiltration soils capture, treat, and manage stormwater
  • Key design concepts for biotreatment devices
  • How various media recipes work—and why soil amendments like Bloom play a crucial role

Whether you’re a landscape architect, landscape contractor, or community gardener, you’ll leave with practical tools and local insights to successfully manage stormwater through bioretention and infiltration. Learn more about Bloom for bioretention.
