LCA Webinar: Expanding Your Business to Provide Woodland Services for Your Clientele: Opportunities for Market Distinction

Landscapers provide services for clientele that improve the developed landscape, but many properties have attached woodlands, old fields and natural areas that can benefit from land care practices that promote woodland health, wildlife habitat, privacy, and other benefits. Woodland parcels 1-9 acres in size account for over two-thirds of ownerships in MD, VA and PA. The University of Maryland Extension Woods In Your Backyard Program has targeted this landowner clientele since 2006 but finding service providers to implement woodland land care practices is difficult. For LCA members working on these properties, the opportunity exists to provide services like invasive species control, vine control, converting lawn to natural areas, wildlife habitat improvement, trail construction, and more. The proper use of forest herbicides is a component of many practices.
