An international test developed by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) and administered by the Landscape Contractors Association MD • DC • VA (LCA), the LIC provides consumers with a level of confidence, as it shows your company’s skill level, credibility, and commitment to best practices.

The test consists of hands-on problems—skill demonstrations performed at the test site that approximate real-life scenarios—plus written problems. Candidates are judged on work methods, adherence to best practices, and safety.

Individuals who successfully complete every problem in their chosen specialty are awarded the Landscape Industry Certified Technician–Exterior designation.
