Divjak Residence

Working with a straightforward brick home located in a community built just after World War II to house thousands of new federal employees moving to D.C. presents its own menu of challenges. First and foremost was to work with our client to give the house a less imposing look and feel. Second, and perhaps more daunting, was to figure out how to tuck the house into the corner lot that it had inhabited for more than 50 years. The result is a soft, undulating, always evolving, non-geometric garden that begs to be discovered.

Cathedral Heights Residence
Washington, DC

This property is located in the Cathedral Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C., A complete renovation of the property included extensive masonry improvements: the stepping stone path connecting to the original front entry walk, new side entry porch with adjoining stepped side path highlighted by brick riser/tread courses, new brick and flagstone patio, and a stone seat wall highlighted by a gas powered stone fireplace with outdoor television niche. An outdoor sport court for the clients' young children was tucked in the uppermost level of the garden between the garage and property lines.
