Emerging Professionals Tour of Blue Plains Water Treatment Plant Led and Hosted by Bloom

Wednesday, October 23, 3:00 pm

 

Join LCA as we tour DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment facility, the largest such facility in the world. Participants will learn about the science and technology powering the plant, as well as the renewable energy and other benefits derived from the process, most notably a high-performing soil amendment called Bloom. Participants will learn about the benefits of biosolids in landscaping, the composition of Bloom and the ways in which it can be used to meet common specifications in landscaping. Join us as we witness the process of making Bloom from start to finish!

 

Continuing Education Credit applied for and is pending.

 

The plant is located at 5000 Overlook Ave SW, Washington D.C. 20032.The group will meet at the visitor center at Blue Plains. Parking is available in front of the visitor center and transportation is provided for getting around the plant. The plant is not particularly public transit accessible so driving or taking shared transit is advisable.

 

Please bring ID and wear sturdy shoes that can get dirty. The tour will start promptly at 3:00 pm and last approximately 60-75 minutes.
