Grenata Residence

This project entailed total site design and installation and allowed us to be involved very early on before the house was constructed. The project elements included a front driveway layout with paver parking courtyard; a front walkway with entry courtyard; a gravel walkway to rear area with crape myrtle allee and hydrangeas planted beneath; two fountains; rear area masonry stoops, walls, and patios; a pool with an architectural water feature; a pool cabana with built-in wet bar, drop down tv, and grilling area; and beautiful landscaping, drainage, irrigation, and lighting throughout the residence.

Tudor Craftsman
Arlington, Virginia

The exterior building materials from this English Tudor Craftsman home were carried to the garden spaces and integrated into the hardscape elements used around the home. The matching light fixtures from the home were used on the top of both the stone piers at the front entrance and the piers flanking the patio opening. A large, built-in grilling station hides stairway to the basement while the water feature brings sound to the patio space. A custom fence was designed for the rear garden area, which includes a lower, more welcoming fence with an arbor and matching gate. A taller version was placed along the rear fence line, providing privacy/screening from a neighbor’s recent home addition. We worked with one of our local arborists to preserve a very large tulip poplar.

Glen Arm Residence

The front of this home required a major overhaul, starting with the removal of all the plant material, the concrete walkway, and a brick retaining wall along the driveway. The new design eliminated the need for a retaining wall and additional steps in the walkway. The new level entrance provided an inviting first impression for visitors. The new back patio design draws people from the screened porch and into an inviting outdoor living room. An outdoor kitchen negates the need for anyone to run back into the house for food or drinks. The use of bluestone in both the front and back of the home helps to tie the spaces together Pathway lanterns and in-ground up-lights highlight the front entry and landscape trees, while under cap lights in the sitting walls and outdoor kitchen give users the ability to comfortably navigate around the patio in the evening without having to turn on the home’s exterior flood lights.
