In 2002, we were asked to undertake a major landscape renovation project at a waterfront home in Annapolis. Our scope of work included installing stone entry piers, stone walls, pavers, and a stone entry bridge and removing an outdated raised deck and pool. Upon removal of the pool and deck, we constructed a new mahogany pool deck and stone water wall and installed ornamental plantings throughout the property.  The project validates the teamwork between our masons, carpenters, and landscape technicians.

We began this total property landscape renovation project in 2009. The builder installed a basic landscape package that clearly did not do justice to this beautiful Tudor-style home. Our scope of work included terracing the front entry with stone walls, a stone curbed arrival court, and colorful ornamental plantings to enhance the hardscapes. The backyard features a loggia, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, swimming pool and spa, and a two story pool house.  We also planted large evergreens for privacy and ornamentals to soften the outdoor space.

Our client wanted a functional and aesthetically pleasing garden for both entertaining and regular family use. The garden consists of thousands of perennials varying in color, hundreds of boxwood, an 85-foot-long wall of 20-foot Nellie Stevens hollies, multi-flow drainage under all lawn areas, and a 9" specimen willow oak. The garden begins in the front with a formal brick walkway to the front door, and stepping stone paths lead to the backyard, which consists of a pool, an open air terrace, and an outdoor kitchen.

With this new construction project, our responsibilities included adding a bioretention pond and multi-flow drainage under the lawn, installing drainage tanks where downspouts are directed, grading, amending soil, planting, sodding over 1 acre, and installing pots. The garden consists of thousands of perennials, and approximately four tractor trailer loads of trees. The clients were very involved because of their knowledge of the construction industry and knowledge and love for gardening.  They use their property for both entertaining and playdates with their grandchildren.
