Bell Property

This 5,240-square-foot entertaining area located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland includes a screened porch/deck, a pool/patio and pool house, and raised gardens in the rear of a historic, circa 1750 plantation house. The upper level (home, screened porch, and deck) is unified with the lower level (patio, pool, pool house) by a short flight of 14-foot wide steps, centered on the pool and pool house. The raised garden beds unify the upper and lower levels, giving one the sense of being nestled into the garden on either level. Classical style architecture was used by the building contractor (a local carpenter/artisan) in constructing many elements of the property, in keeping with the 18th century theme.

Solitaire Lane Residence

Although the existing deck was functional and practical, our client wanted a complete, multi-use, luxurious outdoor entertainment area. We replaced the existing deck with a new mahogany deck that included a grill counter and finished underdeck space. Additionally, we constructed a tavertine patio that transitions to the elevated pool terrace framed by a stone retaining wall and colorful ornamental plantings. Our maintenance crews have provided a comprehensive maintenance plan since 2005.

Lorton Residence

Our client purchased a new home with a builder-grade deck and a drainage swale through his backyard. We were asked to create a luxurious multi-use outdoor living space. Our scope of work included a screened porch, mahogany deck, travertine staircase, terrace, stone retaining wall, stone veneer of the existing chimney, and ornamental plantings to enhance the outdoor space and conceal the drainage swale.

Coachway Residence

This house sits on a beautiful wooded lot. The new homeowners were eager to transform the dated pool and patio into a Tuscan-themed outdoor living space for entertaining. Our scope of work included a rustic heavy beam pavilion, outdoor kitchen, a new swimming pool and water wall, outdoor fireplace and chimney and plantings throughout the property.  The craftsmanship of our masons and carpenters truly makes this a unique and private outdoor living space.

Baltimore Rooftop Garden

This rooftop garden overlooking Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is complete with outdoor kitchen, dining area, living area with a 72" outdoor television, and bartop seating. The project began with construction of a large raised Ipe deck leading to a four person jacuzzi. Just beyond the jacuzzi is a peaceful water feature with a relaxing seating area. An aluminum pergola wrapped with Ipe pickets was constructed over the living area and lighting was placed both on the deck floor and along the pergola posts. The project concluded with construction of custom corn hole boards featuring Orioles and Ravens themes.

Bethesda Family Resort
Bethesda, MD

The clients asked for a backyard that their active family could enjoy. The pool had to be convenient to the sunroom and attractive year round from the large windows of the family room and kitchen. Unfortunately several properties, including the client’s own property, drained directly into the area that was best suited for the pool. A gentle turf swale was created that channels the water runoff efficiently around the pool. That expanse of turf also doubles as a ball playing area. For the pool decking, we chose rectangular flagstone with a limestone border to match stone features in the sun room and on the house. A stone fire pit is situated close to the spa so the family could enjoy an evening fire.

A Residence in NW D.C.

The builder had already installed a pool, driveway, and small patio. We needed to make the yard more inviting as well as dog and kid friendly. We started by removing an old wall along the back of the pool along with the tall bamboo. Working closely with a landscape architect, we added stone walls to separate the backyard from the parking area. All the grass was removed, and the patio was enlarged to create more space for entertaining; plants were added for color and interest over the seasons.
