Plan the entry from before work starts, record the progress of the project and then give it time to mature before submitting.
Remove debris from patio, pool, landscape, and lawn. Make sure turf areas are properly mowed and everything is trimmed.
Use the entry form to creatively tell a short story with the client’s objectives, your vision, and special or unusual problems encountered. Utilize the captions of the photos to expand on the story with precise detail.
Capture "before" shots from many viewpoints. Later, shoot the project from the same angles during all seasons.
Frame your view carefully, omit telephone poles, excessive concrete curbs, and pavement. Get close-ups detailing your craftsmanship (at least five are required if you are entering the Craftsmanship category).
Soft morning or early evening light minimizes contrast and is ideal for taking the best pictures.
